About Geneseo, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in Henry County, Illinois, the City of Geneseo is known for its quaint downtown life, top schools, and Victorian-style architecture. As of 2010, about 6,600 people resided in this community, which is found 20 miles east of the Quad Cities. Geneseo was originally founded in 1836 as a Christian colony, although planning began several years earlier. Significant expansion took place in the 20th century, and today, the city is sometimes referred to as “Victorian Geneseo” for its historical architecture. Students attend classes through District 228, which consists of three elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

There are plenty of interesting things to see and do in Geneseo. Several golf courses can be found here, including those at the Geneseo Country Club and Sugar Maple Golf Course. Indian Creek Mini-Golf may be a better pace for younger visitors, and there are multiple parks here, such as Geneseo Prairie Park, Richmond Hill Park, and G.E. Hulting Park. The Christmas Walk is held in the city each winter, and during the summer months, residents enjoy the John and Carla Edwards Aquatic Center.

Typical of northern Illinois, Geneseo is part of a humid continental climate zone. Winters here experience moderate snowfall and cold temperatures. The normal monthly mean temperature in January is 22.6 degrees Fahrenheit, although subzero temperatures are also possible. Residents are wise to invest in a reliable gas or electric furnace to stay warm throughout the season, and regular maintenance will ensure these systems work at optimal efficiency.

Temperatures extremes are also possible in the summer months when thermostat readings and humidity levels are high. July is the hottest month, and temperatures reach about 86 degrees for highs. Still, precipitation is consistent throughout the year, and storms are common throughout the season. When residents are stuck indoors because of unfavorable weather conditions, central air conditioning is the preferred home cooling method.
